Reclined Full size or half size horse commission
bronze
When John Denning sculpts a horse with a serene woman on its back, he explores the masculine-feminine and the animal-human relationships in a poetic, dreamlike way, both extremely familiar and astonishing. Whereas Deborah Butterfield’s horses took the equine sculpture off its pedestal without abandoning the heroic suggestion entirely, Denning conjures the strength of warrior sculptures with a shield-like structure carried on its front leg by the horse, suggesting motion, as do the five legs. The woman, conjoined with the horse, is satiated and relaxed, the horse has stopped in its track, alert. Commissions available as full size (96” tall) and half-size (48” tall). Please email or call the gallery for details on this, or other commissions.
